Positions in Graham ISD:
I have taught 20 + years in nearly every grade level and subject from Kindergarten thru 8th grade. My first teaching position was in Arlington, TX, teaching 3rd grade at Morton Elementary. From there, because I’m married to a retired minister, we moved around a lot, and I had the opportunity to teach in many different settings, including homeschooling my own children for a while. I taught in both public and private schools in Arkansas and Missouri before we finally made our way back to Texas. Most of my early experiences were in self-contained classrooms so I taught all subjects to my students throughout the day. I even taught a 5th/6th grade combined class for three years. I then moved into the junior high world. I started out teaching language arts and history to junior high students. When I moved to Graham, I was given the opportunity to teach junior high math. I’m now back in elementary teaching math & science and I love it!
I grew up in Ft Worth, TX, and have moved numerous times over the years. First to go to college in Waco, TX, then several moves after that because my husband is a retired minister. We have two children, Steven, and Marissa. Steven is married to Lani, and Marissa is married to Will Russell. Steven and Marissa both graduated from GHS. Steven and Lani gave us our first grandchild, Bradley. He is a year old and the delight of our lives! Education runs heavy in our family; Steven, Marissa, and Lani are all teachers. We are owned by two dogs, Peanut and Shorty.
I consider it a privilege to teach, and am thankful for every experience I have. There are several things I enjoy doing during my “non-teaching” hours. First and foremost, I love spending time with my family. We are very involved in church activities at First United Methodist Church. My favorite hobby is playing handbells. I play as often our minister of music lets me! I also play the piano and hope to improve my skills in that area. I spend what free time I have reading books or doing cross-stitch. And once in a while, you can catch a peek of me onstage with the Graham Regional Theater.
